You can easily grow your own sprouts & salad greens indoors. Its nice to have fresh greens year round. Mung beans can be sprouted. I also
make radish GREENS, planting them in some soil, when they are a couple inches high they are ready to be snipped & added to salads.
My little countertop winter garden. Wheat grass, mung bean sprouts, mustard & radish greens just starting.
Lentils can be sprouted & added to salads, or for making raw chili. I also add it to my dog's breakfasts & dinners.
Here's the finished sprouts in a raw lentil chili.
BEGIN WITH DRIED LENTILS. GET A WIDE MOUTHED JAR AND SOME KIND OF OPEN TOP WITH HOLES IN IT, MESH & AN
ELASTIC WORKS WELL
ADD THE LENTILS TO THE JAR, FILL WITH WATER & SOAK OVER NIGHT
THESE LENTILS HAVE BEEN SOAKED OVERNIGHT. DRAIN THE SOAKING WATER BY POURING IT OUT THROUGH THE LID
LIE THE JAR ON ITS SIDE. SO THAT ANY POOLED WATER IS KIND OF SPREAD OUT & THE LENTILS HAVE MORE SPACE TO
SPREAD OUT. IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE IN THE LIGHT. RINSE YOUR LENTILS TWICE A DAY BY FILLING THE JAR WITH WATER
AND POURING IT OUT AGAIN
THE NEXT MORNING, THE LENTILS HAVE STARTED SPROUTING.
AND THE NEXT MORNING, THESE ARE READY TO EAT. PUT THEM IN THE FRIDGE AT THIS POINT SO THEY DON'T KEEP GROWING.
